New EIZO 34.1-inch curved monitor comes with built-in webcam and microphone

EIZO Corporation announced the release of the 34.1-inch FlexScan EV3450XC, its first monitor with a built-in webcam and microphone. With USB Type-C docking and a built-in LAN connection, this ultrawide UWQHD (3440 x 1440), curved monitor offers streamlined viewing and communication for the modern business professionals.

With many companies embracing hybrid work arrangements that combine in-office and remote work, there arises challenges with communication barriers and limited in-person collaborative opportunities. The EV3450XC’s high-performance webcam and microphone facilitate communication and collaboration by enabling face-to-face interaction in a virtual space. The webcam and microphone are discreetly integrated into the bezel to blend in with the workspace, whether it be the office, home, or co-working spaces.

The integrated 5 megapixel webcam offers more than twice the resolution of Full HD, ensuring high-definition, natural color image capture for a vibrant web meeting experience. It also supports Windows Hello, allowing users to quickly unlock their PC using facial recognition. This streamlines the process of accessing the computer without the need for a password, while still maintaining security.

The monitor’s built-in microphone has a noise-canceling function that detects human voices and reduces unwanted background noise. It also has an echo-canceling function that identifies and removes sounds coming from the monitor’s internal speakers to prevent feedback. This ensures clear audio during web meetings.

Integrating stereo speakers into a monitor’s bezel often results in a bulky exterior design due to the space required. However, EIZO has developed an innovative solution to incorporate 4-watt speakers into the cabinet while maintaining a slim bezel and non-intrusive housing design. The speakers provide clear sound for both individuals and when used by several people in a conference room setting.

The 34.1-inch ultrawide monitor boasts a high resolution of 3440 x 1440 (UWQHD) and a 21:9 aspect ratio, providing 2.4 times the resolution of Full HD monitors. This allows users to freely arrange multiple applications across the spacious screen and work more flexibly between them. The EV3450XC’s gentle concave design brings the far edges of the screen to a more comfortable distance, improving visibility, focus, and immersion when sitting close to the monitor.

While modern laptops are designed to be thinner and more portable, they often have limited connectivity options. However, the EV3450XC acts as docking station when connected via USB Type-C. This allows users to display video, playback audio, transmit USB signals, and supply 94 watts of power to connected devices, such as laptop computers, for streamlined hot desking or remote work.

The monitor has a dedicated LAN port built in, providing a stable wired connection for accessing the network when connecting a laptop via USB Type-C. This is useful for conducting conference calls or transferring data reliably and at high speed.

Contributing to a more sustainable future remains an important goal for both businesses and consumers who are looking to manufacturers to conduct environmentally friendly initiatives. The EV3450XC is certified by EPEAT (Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool) with the highest ranking of Gold, demonstrating environmental awareness.

This includes the use of 80% recycled materials, reduced power consumption, the use of recycled cardboard and newspaper in packaging and lifecycle management. These efforts are in addition to EIZO’s company-wide initiatives such as renewable energy usage and supply chain management.

The monitor also attained the new EPEAT Climate+ designation for compliance with climate change standards and products that meet greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction criteria. Additionally, it is certified by comprehensive global sustainability standards including TCO Certified Generation 9 and ENERGY STAR.
