HONOR and Google Cloud usher in new era of innovation

At Cloud Next 2025, HONOR highlighted its ongoing collaboration with Google Cloud, showcasing groundbreaking advancements in AI-driven user experiences. Eric Fang, Senior Director of Product Planning at HONOR, detailed how this partnership continues to deliver next-generation intelligent features — including the newly upgraded Magic Portal 2.0, now powered by Google’s Gemini large language models (LLMs).

HONOR ALPHA PLAN: Shaping the Future of AI Devices
As part of its bold HONOR ALPHA PLAN, launched in March, the company aims to lead globally in AI device ecosystems. This initiative leans heavily on the partnership with Google Cloud, granting access to cutting-edge AI infrastructure and expertise. Together, HONOR and Google Cloud are working to integrate advanced AI capabilities directly into smartphones, pushing the limits of what mobile devices can do.

Next-Level Imaging: AI Outpainting and AI Eraser
HONOR introduced AI Outpainting, an innovative feature under its AiMAGE suite. Leveraging Google’s Imagen model, users can expand images up to twice their original size with seamless results. The tool also enables photo rotation and reframing, making perfect pre-shot composition less critical.

The AI Eraser tool, also developed with Imagen, enables effortless object removal. It automatically fills edited areas with contextually accurate details, minimizing visual inconsistencies and improving editing accuracy with minimal effort.

Bringing AI to Everyone
HONOR is committed to making flagship-level AI features accessible to more users worldwide. Its recent HONOR 400 Lite launch in Europe, which includes AI Outpainting, AI Eraser, and AI Upscale, exemplifies this goal. By utilizing Google Cloud’s robust infrastructure, HONOR ensures more users can enjoy premium AI functionality without a flagship price.

What’s Next: AI-Powered Productivity and Creativity
Looking ahead, HONOR teased upcoming devices launching in May 2025. These will incorporate Google Cloud’s Veo video generation for realistic, AI-powered content creation. Additionally, new office productivity tools, co-developed with Gemini, will streamline daily workflows, enabling smarter, more intuitive task management.

A Strategic Leap in Mobile AI Evolution
HONOR’s partnership with Google Cloud marks a strategic leap in AI-powered mobile experiences. By fusing device-side intelligence with cloud-based power, HONOR is creating smarter, user-centric devices. This collaboration continues to push boundaries, unlocking a future where AI adapts to every user’s creative and professional needs.

Eric Fang, Senior Director of Product Planning at HONOR, said “AI Outpainting is a game-changer, it allows users to focus on capturing the decisive moment without worrying about perfect framing. The optimized generative fill ensures that the expanded images are seamlessly integrated, even in complex scenes like buildings and landscapes.”
