DDN Ranked #1 for High Performance File Storage

DDN announced it has once again been ranked #1 on the Coldago Research Map for High Performance File Storage, reaffirming its leadership position in one of the most demanding segments of the storage market.

The recognition comes as part of Coldago Research’s 7th edition of the File Storage Map, an independent, data-driven evaluation that assesses vendors across three segments—Enterprise, Cloud, and High Performance File Storage. In the High Performance File Storage category, DDN was ranked #1 among nine other vendors.

Coldago’s analysis is based entirely on demonstrated market presence and performance over the past 12 months, not future promises or hypothetical roadmaps. The evaluation incorporates extensive data gathered from vendors, customers, and partners, as well as in-depth reviews of product releases, customer deployments, benchmark participation, and strategic activity.

“Being ranked #1 again by Coldago validates what our customers experience every day at scale,” said Paul Bloch, President and co-founder at DDN. “High performance file storage isn’t about isolated benchmarks or theoretical architectures—it’s about sustained reliability, efficiency, and performance in production environments. Coldago’s methodology aligns closely with how real enterprises and sovereign organizations measure success.”

A Comprehensive, Company-Level Evaluation
Unlike product-only comparisons, the Coldago Map evaluates entire companies, reflecting the full scope of each vendor’s presence in the high performance file storage market. The analysis spans three primary dimensions:

  • Company Profile: Executive leadership, company history, geographic footprint, workforce scale, funding and IPO status, and overall market visibility.
  • Business and Strategy: Go-to-market execution, alliances and OEM relationships, customer adoption and retention, competitive displacement, operational efficiency, and supported use cases across key verticals.
  • Products and Technology: Product–market fit, architecture and design, release cadence, intellectual property ownership, benchmark participation, data protection, cloud integration, and performance at scale.

Coldago places particular emphasis on technology ownership, valuing solutions designed and developed in-house over those assembled through external integrations. Products included in the evaluation must be generally available for at least six months and actively deployed in production environments.

Designed for the World’s Most Demanding Workloads
DDN’s continued leadership reflects its deep roots in high performance computing and its evolution into a foundational platform for large-scale AI, enterprise, and sovereign data environments. From national research labs and hyperscale AI factories to financial services and advanced manufacturing, DDN enables organizations to keep their most valuable compute resources productive, reliable, and economically viable.

The full Coldago Research File Storage Map (7th Edition) provides a detailed view of current market positioning across Enterprise, Cloud, and High Performance File Storage, offering buyers an objective snapshot of vendor performance based on real-world adoption and results.
