Celonis Unveils Context Model, Announces Ikigai Labs Acquisition

Celonis has introduced the Celonis Context Model (CCM) and signed a definitive agreement to acquire Ikigai Labs, a leader in AI‑powered Decision Intelligence.

As enterprises race to deploy AI at scale, they face a critical challenge: AI systems often lack a complete understanding of how the business actually operates. These blind spots limit the ability of AI agents to make reliable decisions, ultimately slowing returns on Enterprise AI investments.

The CCM addresses this gap by creating a dynamic, real‑time digital twin of operations that translates business activity into a language AI can reason with. Built on process data and business knowledge from every system, application, device, and interaction, the CCM gives Enterprise AI the operational clarity needed to reason accurately, act reliably, and deliver results at scale.

The acquisition of Ikigai Labs brings advanced Decision Intelligence capabilities — including planning, simulation, and forecasting — directly into the CCM. This integration will enable organizations to model future scenarios, predict and prevent process failures, and make more informed, resilient decisions.

Ikigai Labs’ world‑class team brings deep expertise in AI, machine learning, time‑series and tabular modeling, causal inference, and large‑scale simulation. Founded on nearly two decades of MIT research, Ikigai Labs has helped some of the world’s most complex enterprises compress planning and forecasting cycles — such as supply chain planning — from months to minutes. As part of the agreement, Celonis will gain exclusive rights to MIT‑owned patents previously licensed to Ikigai Labs, and MIT will become a shareholder in Celonis.

“Better enterprise decisions require AI that works with enterprise data. Ikigai Labs has proven foundation model technology for structured data at scale; Celonis has encoded enterprise processes. Together, we provide the fullest operational representation of business reality,” said Devavrat Shah, Ikigai Labs Co‑Founder, Chaired Professor of AI at MIT, and Chief Scientist, Enterprise AI at Celonis. “With the Celonis Context Model, AI agents have the hindsight, insight, and foresight to intelligently adapt — and can be trusted to deliver the expected business outcomes. I am excited to continue our mission with Alex, Basti, Carsten, Martin, and the entire Celonis team.”
