SonicWall Unveils Gen 8 Virtual Firewall for Mid-Market and Enterprises

SonicWall announced the general availability of NSvS, M and L, completing its Gen 8 virtual firewall series alongside SonicOS 8.2.2 and Network Security Manager (NSM) 4.3. NSvXS has been protecting SOHO and micro-SMB workloads since April; the addition of S, M and L extends that same Gen 8 protection to mid-market and distributed enterprise customers running workloads across public cloud, private cloud and virtualized data centers.

SonicWall Gen 8 NSv Series closes the security gap cloud migration creates, protecting workloads across every cloud and virtual environment, from a single SOHO instance to a distributed enterprise, without forcing customers or partners to re-architect security as they scale. Virtual and cloud workloads are growing faster than the visibility most security teams have into them, and that mismatch is exactly what the Gen 8 NSv Series is built to close.

“Cloud and virtual environments are no longer an afterthought; for most of our customers, they’re a core strategy,” said Chandro Prasad, Chief Product Officer at SonicWall. “Completing the NSv line ensures that every customer, from a local office to a multi-state enterprise, runs the exact same unified SonicOS, centralized management and embedded cyber warranty. No one should have to choose between the right fit and enterprise-grade security.”

Right-Sized, Not One-Size-Fits-All
Firewall speed scales from 2 Gbps on the entry-level NSv XS model up to 14 Gbps on the high-end NSv –meaning customers only pay for the performance they actually need:

  • NSvXS: Perfect for the smallest, most targeted deployments, like a single-branch retail store or dental practice isolating point-of-sale or patient-record systems within a shared cloud environment.
  • NSvS: Ideal for smaller setups, like a regional credit union securing branch systems against core banking operations.
  • NSvM: Built for mid-sized organizations, like a school district balancing on-campus servers with cloud-based student apps.
  • NSvL: Designed for large-scale operations, like a hospital network or national retail chain managing heavy workloads across multiple cloud platforms while meeting strict regulatory standards like HIPAA or PCI compliance.

One Platform, Zero Complexity
Every newly introduced model runs the same unified SonicOS and is managed through a single console (NSM) as part of Unified Management, giving IT teams and MSPs unified policy control and full traffic visibility instead of a patchwork of standalone security tools.

Every firewall in the lineup includes built-in cyber warranty coverage from Cysurance at no added cost as part of our security protection suites, an industry first for virtual firewalls, and is backed by SonicWall’s patented Real-Time Deep Memory Inspection (RTDMI™) and Reassembly-Free Deep Packet Inspection (RFDPI) threat-detection technologies alongside Capture Advanced Threat Protection (ATP). Because NSv XS through L deploy across VMware ESXi, Hyper-V, KVM, AWS, Azure and Proxmox, your security follows the workload rather than being locked to a specific platform.

A Clear Path for Managed Service Partners
For MSPs and MSSPs, the complete lineup offers a single, scalable service model. MSPs can onboard a customer on NSvXS and smoothly upgrade them to S, M or L from the same multi-tenant console as their business grows, eliminating the need to rebuild security infrastructure at every stage. Flexible monthly or annual subscriptions line up directly with standard managed services pricing, while optional MPSS and SonicSentry NOC support allow partners to expand their security practice without adding headcount.

Availability
NSv S, M and L – along with SonicOS 8.2.2 and NSM 4.3 – are available today through SonicWall’s global partner network on flexible monthly or annual subscription terms. Existing customers and those looking to replace legacy firewalls can request a demo or upgrade quote tailored to their environment. Partners can attend the upcoming NSvwebinar and complete SonicWall University training to start offering the full XS-through-L lineup.
